Pair of Rosewood Horseshoe-Back Folding Arm Chairs
DESCRIPTION: A striking and elegant pair of Chinese horseshoe-back folding armchairs crafted from a beautifully striped rosewood with carved and pierced splats, both decorated with kylin, a mythical Chinese creature of good fortune. Each have generously wide curving backs, woven mat seats, and incorporated foot rests, and are secured with decorative brass mounts. Dating from the third quarter of the 20th century (1950 – 1970) these chairs are in good condition with minor wood fissures. Consigned from a Florida estate, these large, well-made chairs make a dramatic design statement. DIMENSIONS: These are large, “throne sized” chairs at 33 ˝” wide (85 cm) x 29” deep (64 cm) x 41 ˝” high (105 cm).
