These two bronze figures date from the 17-18th century or earlier.
Each one represents either Mahakala or Samantabhadra standing on a prostrate human figure surrounded by a ring of fire and wearing a garland of severed human heads.
Each measures about 8 inches tall by 5 inches wide.
Both are in excellent condition except for a small square opening on the back of one.

These two original Chinese bronze figures date from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) along with the gilt bronze screens behind them.
The bronze Buddha measures 7 3/4 inches tall by 5 3/4 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches in depth. (19.5 cm x 14.5 cm x 10.0 cm). The Buddha has a large percentage of it's original gilding remaining as do both of the gilt bronze backs. The Buddha also has a Wan symbol on his chest.
The bronze Guanyin or Avalokitesvara measures 8.25 inches tall by 5 inches wide by 3.5 inches in depth. (21 cm x 12.5 cm x 8.5 cm).
We are offering both of the bronzes and both of the finely detailed gilt bronze backs as a group (4 pieces -2 figures and 2 screen backs -all at one price.)

This Meiji period JAPANESE KUTANI BOWL measures 10 1/2 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep.
It is in excellent condition with slight wear to the gilding as would be expected .
It is signed on the bottom (see enlargement).

These two museum quality cloisonne enameled censors in the shape of cockerels or mythological birds are a matched pair.
Each one measures 17 inches tall by 13 inches wide by 6 inches in depth.
They are very ornate with fan tails.
Their large, ornate tails are removable, opening them for a possible use as incense burners.
They date from the Ching Dynasty (1644-1911).
They are in outstanding condition, period.
They are covered with double facing dragon and phoenix designs (the symbols of the emperor and empress). They also have archaic plant and bird designs overall.
NOTE: These are outstanding and much more impressive in person than the photos would indicate.

On May 30th, 2012 Christie's Hong Kong offered a pair of cloisonne roosters (14 inch tall) from the 18th century( Qianlong period) at an estimate of $370,000.00-$450,000.00. They were in a standing position -versus the position of repose of the pair we are offering.

This jade carving of a Chinese lion, Chimera or Fu dog sits at an alert posture on all four paws.
It has a split or bifurcated tail and stylized wings.
It measures 2 1/2 inches by 1 7/8 inches by 1 1/4 inch (57 mm x 49 mm x 31 mm).
It is carved from a piece of off white to celadon colored jade with natural striations running through it. There is a natural brown irregulatity which runs from it's foot to it's ear on one side along with a small area of brown suffusion on it's flank.
(This is the fancy way of saying it has few areas of rust. Not a bad thing for a genuine antique jade carving.)
We are dating this one to the Qing Dynasty, but it may actually be much earlier.

This Chinese nephrite jade carving of a Qilin or Chilong measures about 4.5 inches from nose to tail (or no tail-in this case) by about 4 inches tall by 2 inches at its width (hoof to hoof).
It was carved from a celadon green mottled jade with areas of grey green and dark green.
It also has numerous inclusions - natural fractures in the stone with oxidation and subsequent staining.
This mythological beast has the head of a lion or dog and the wide body of a goat, resting on its hooves. It has no tail: but that may have happened sometime after it was originally created. His rump appears to have been polished down some time ago.
We estimate that this jade originated some time between the Han Dynasty and the Song Dynasty, based on stylistic similarities and the condition of the stone itself.

This hand painted ceramic vase measures about 10 inches (24.5 cm)tall by 5 inches (13 cm) in diameter at it's widest point.
It dates circa 1870-1900 (during the late Meiji Period) in Japan.
It is in excellent condition with virtually all of the high relief gilding intact.

This pair of charming 18th-19th century copper censors are in the form of small archaic wine jars. They have some verdigris on them but they are in excellent condition.
They measure 5 1/4 inches tall by about 4 1/2 inches wide.
The tripod feet are comprised of foo dogs or temple lions with elongated tongues. They have been used as candle holders at some time and retain a small amount of wax on the interior.
There are no marks on these censors. They appear to be Chinese, made for the Japanese market. Circa 1780-1840"s.

Pair of Imperial Bronze Dragon Seals: Qianlong Marks and Period
This large pair of dragon handled bronze seals date from the period of Qianlong (1735-1795), emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in China.
The rectangular base measures 8 ½ inches by 7 ¼ inches (21.5 cm x 19.5 cm). The dragon handle stands up about 3 inches tall (8 cm.).
The top portions of the seals are covered with chiseled and engraved patterns of dragons and swirling lines representing the ocean or the sky. Standing on top of all this is the dragon handle.
The bottom of the seals are covered in archaic old Chinese pictogram script (see closeup photos). They also include traditional Chinese characters in one corner which are easily interpreted as Qianlong Reign Marks.
Some folks thought these might be paperweights because of their rather large size, compared to most seals of either bronze or jade. A recent article in the Jakarta Post referred to a very similar bronze seal as a “casted paperweight from the Qianlong Period”. See link below:

These bronzes may have served double duty, with an original purpose yet to be determined by deciphering the archaic script and the possibility of also having been used as massive scroll weights.
The Emperor Qianlong had a serious interest in painting and was known to dabble in it himself on occasion. Some scrolls are exceptionally long and might have required a substantial scroll weight to keep them open for viewing (or possible two or more to hold the whole long thing open in the privacy of one's palace).
On April 4, 2010 , one identical bronze seal/scroll weight was sold at auction in China for the amount of RMB 651,200. (about $108,000.00 US ). The auction estimate had originally been 600,000-800,000 RMB (about $100,000-$130,000) for one single bronze seal.
The pair of bronze seals or scroll weights or “paperweights” are both in excellent condition. The buyer will not be disappointed.
They were purchased about 30 years ago in Southern California.
NOTE: Although the photos below make the the bronzes appear to be of different sizes , only the photos are of different sizes, not the bronzes themselves.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: THERE ARE A FEW VERY TINY SPOTS OF VERDIGRIS ON ONE OF THE SEALS . THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR A BRONZE ITEM THAT IS OVER 200 YEARS OLD. IT IS REALLY NOT WORTH MENTIONING BUT WE ALWAYS LIKE TO HAVE FULL DISCLOSURE SO THERE ARE NO SURPRISES FOR THE BUYER.

This standing nephrite jade carving of a bearded and robed figure with long horns or a headdress of some sort measures about 10 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches in depth.
It is carved from a large piece of nephrite ranging from pale to deep green with a strip of oxidized white to yellow jade down the middle. In addition, there is a crackled stripe of oxidation running down through the center of the face through the figure to the bottom of the robe.
There are also engraved rectangular patterns and additional patterns on the robe.
Although the serious possibility exists that this is an old nephrite carving dating to the Shang period, we are dating this one very conservatively to about circa 1900-1920. If it turns out to be much older, we are certain the buyer will not be too upset.
It is interesting to note, however, that the oxidation and subsequent crackling of the stone that runs right down through the face probably occurred after the jade was carved. The question arises: if this is a copy made in the last 100 years or so, why didn't they turn it around before they carved the face, as the center of the back side is pristine where the face could have been positioned, no crackling or deterioration? It would have been the better choice to use as the front and would have made a more attractive and potentially more saleable copy. If however, the deterioration of the stone actually happened over an extended period of time after it was carved, that would make more sense as an explanation as to why the current positioning of the stone in relation to it's natural flaws or irregularities.

This carved jade dog in a reclining position measures 3.25 inches long by about 1.25 inches tall by 1.5 inches in depth.
It is carved from a piece of nephrite jade that has colors that range from off white and pale celadon to pale yellow and brown in areas.
It dates from the late 19th to early 20th Century in China.
It is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration.

This substantial bronze handled pitcher measures 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide by 7 inches in depth.
We are dating this one to circa 1790-1820, but it may be much, much older. It is either a Neoclassical bronze copy of a Roman bronze or the real thing. We have priced it as a copy, but if real, you can add a couple of "00"s to it's price.
It is in excellent condition, except for a few small bungs and a restoration to the base. The bottom appears to have had three holes filled a long time ago. It may also have been leveled a bit to allow it to sit evenly (this part is speculation).
It has an even greenish black patina overall.
