These two apple green jade carvings are close enough in size, style and color to be loosely called a pair.

Each is carved on both sides with a happy Buddha figure also known as a Bodhai or Putai (see photos).

They each measure about 20mm x 25 mm x 5 mm in depth.

They are both apple green jade.

They are a close match, but not absolutely identical-with minor inclusions that differ slightly.

These date to about the middle of the 20th century in China.

They are in excellent condition with no damage or restoration-and drilled for hanging.

We don't believe these are dyed, based on where and when they were acquired, but we cannot guarantee that without testing them- which was not done. Instead we have priced them so that it won't matter either way. In addition, if we are correct and they aren't dyed, the buyer should be even more pleased with the purchase.

This outstanding example of a Muhuashi (Petrified Wood Scholar's Rock) measures 8 inches by 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches tall (including the carved wooden stand it sits in). One photo enlargement shows the stand and the bottom of the rock.

It has the appearance of a craggy old mountain. It was at one time part of a collection of jade mountains. The mineralized wood is actually as hard or harder than jade.

It is difficult to put an actual age on this stone, but we can easily assume that it's age can be measured in centuries, lot's of them!

This small jade or hard stone carving of a stylized face measures 2.25 inches x 2.75 inches x 1.5 inches in depth.

It's colors range from a medium to dark green to a pale green with areas of translucence. It also has natural inclusions in the stone with areas of dark brown or off white oxidation.

It is carved in the style of old Olmec carvings, but it may be early 20th century. It may also be Chinese, rather than Latin American in origin, but neither origin has been documented yet.

It is unusual in that it has a mounting bracket extending from the reverse side. Similar brackets have been seen on occasion to allow for mounting as architectural components or as decorations in religious settings.

If this stylized carving actually is older than our estimate, it would be worth a great deal more than our asking price.

The mounting bracket would allow for this piece to be worn as a belt slide or buckle, or as a large pendant.

This nephrite jade carving is a pale celadon to yellow jade altered to brown overall.

It appears to have been buried for an extended period of time, based on the level of alteration or oxidation.

We conservatively estimate that this antique nephrite jade dates to the late 19th - early 20th century.

It may actually be much older. Please view the detailed photos carefully.

The buyer will not be disappointed.

It measures 80 mm x 45mm x 12 mm in depth.

It is in very good condition with the exception of a slight loss to one wing tip, which appears to have happened ages ago because it shows wear and toning consistent with the rest of the carving.

The shape of the tail is unusual in that it looks like a sea monster . Without its pointed beak, it could be mistaken for a dragon or a kylin.

This white nephrite jade carving of a pig dates from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD).

It measures 4 inches nose to tail, by about 1 3/8 inches tall by 1 inch in width.

It is an overall white color with traces of brown oxidation in the crevices. It has areas of irregularity on it's flat and rounded surfaces that create an almost spider web like pattern (off white on white colors).

It is in excellent condition except for one drill hole in the tail which does not appear to be contemporary with the piece. It was most likely added so it could be worn as a pendant.

This rectangular jade box and cover measures approximately 5 inches by 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches (12cm x 9.4cm x 5.5 cm).

It is covered overall with incised decoration in leaf and flower patterns. The top has a simple lotus pond garden scene within a repeating line patterned maze design.

The box was carved from one piece of pale green celadon colored jade with a prominent natural inclusion along with cloud band patterns.

The bottom of the box appears to have been set in separately, but carved from the same piece of jade..

This box dates from the Qing Dynasty in China (1644-1911).

It is in excellent condition except for a couple of insignificant rim chips along the edge. They are difficult to see or photograph, but they can be felt when running a finger along the edge. They are VERY insignificant nicks.

NOTE: This box has very well patterned inclusions that help to document it's origin from a single large translucent stone.

This large natural water worn jade is in the shape of a flattened oblong stone. It fits well in the palm of the hand and feels like it has been held that way for generations.

It measures about 3.75 inches by 2 inches by 1.5 inches in depth.

It has a carved figure of Shou Xing nestled within the stone, wrapped in a leaf and with a bat holding a ruyi in its mouth resting spread winged below him. Often, a Ru Yi is depicted with a bat. The bat symbolizes health and longevity. It is considered to be a lucky object, adding good luck to the powers of the Ruyi.

this carving was carefully crafted from a natural water worn piece of either nephrite or jadeite-we are not sure which-but we guarantee it to be jade.

This is an outstanding fondling piece-one we are tempted to keep, but with thousands of pieces already, we can't keep them all.

We estimate that this substantial jade(it weighs 8.27 troy ounces or 257.22 grams) dates from about the middle of the 20th century or possibly earlier.

It is in excellent condition. The buyer will not be disappointed.

This unusual jade carving of a griffin with a bull's head and a snake in it's mouth measures 6 1/2 inches tall by 4 1/2 inches wide by about 2 1/2 inches in depth. It has colors that range from pale celadon green to pale blue grey in addition to a covering of off white calcification over much of it's surface. it also has an outstanding natural cloud pattern that is evident in pictures of it's backside or wings. It is in outstanding condition except for the loss of a very small tip of one of it's ears (see photo). We are dating this old jade to the Qing Dynasty although it may be older. We prefer to be conservative when it comes to dating jade (Our buyers don't seem to mind.) It's wings are engraved with feather marks and it has well delineated claws on all four extremities. This is a truly interesting carving that is difficult to categorize. The buyer will not be disappointed as it look much better in person than the photos in both detail and depth of color.
