This English Doulton Burslem ceramic plate measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition. It is marked with the Doulton Burslem mark, which dates it between 1886 through 1890. It was signed and numbered by the artist who painted the colorful but subtle hand-painted flowers and leaves,which adorn the center of the plate. A gilded scalloped edge with repeating floral patterns surrounds it. Doulton China was appreciated by the royal family in Victorian times. It was granted the Royal Warrant by King Edward VII in 1906. After that it was marked Royal Doulton. |
