A stunning, magnificently crafted, sterling and natural Morenci turquoise necklace c. 1950, by Frank Patania Sr. (1899-1964). Born in Italy, this silversmith came to the U.S. at an early age settling in the Southwest and achieved great recognition for his blending of European and Native American design. There are seven graduated round sterling discs each having a sawtooth bezel set center turquoise in a shadow box setting. This fine necklace measures 16 3/4" end to end and the center disc is 1 3/8" diameter. It is in fine original condition with no chips or cracks to the stones and weighs 70 grams. Signed with the oval FP hallmark, the Thunderbird hallmark and Sterling as shown in the photo. Exquisite on and off the neck. A wonderful piece for the serious Patania collector.
