An exuberant sterling pin with a naturalistic design by Felipe Martinez who opened his workshop "Piedra Y Plata" in 1955. The highly polished, smooth amethyst flowers seem to be bursting out of the leaves which are going in all directions. This pin, c.1955, is featured on page 186 of the Morrill book MEXICAN SILVER, however, the pin in the book has green stones rather than amethyst. The pin measures 2 6/8" by 2 1/8" and is in beautiful original condition. It weighs 21 grams and is signed for Martinez, Piedra Y Plata as shown in the photo. It is so rare to find this amazing artists work and this pin could not be finer.
