This is a fine and delicate hand hammered sterling necklace with a gold wash by Jo Michels. Michels, a New York City jeweler in the 1940s and 1950s, usually produced round or oval repoussé pieces so this necklace is unusual for her. When on the neck, the leaves look like they have just dropped from the tree and landed. The paper clip chain from which the leaves are suspended is the perfect compliment. It measures 16 1/2" end to end and is 1 1/4" wide at the center dangling leaf. Fine original condition and signed as shown. This necklace is stunning!
