This unusually tall Orrefors fish graal vase is 7-3/4" high with a narrow opening at the top. The vase itself weighs over 6 lbs. This is an art glass sculpture and was not necessarily intended to be used as a vase. It has an engraved mark on the bottom that reads Orrefors/Graal Ha 635R/Edward Hald, which dates the vase to 1961. The designer Hald worked for Orrefors from 1917-1978. This vase has a clever design of fish, seashells, seaweed rendered in black and soft green on the parison or blank, which is then further cased in thick, clear glass. The images go all around the vase, and the clear cased glass creates the effect that the viewer is looking at the images under water. The condition is excellent with just the usual minor scratches on the base, consistent with an age of 53 years.

This unusual form Flygsfors bowl or sculpture from Sweden is 18.25" long, 7" wide, 4" high. The colors are cranberry, white and clear. The bottom is signed Flygsfors 61 Coquille. The Coquille mark is not pictured. The piece dates to 1961, and the condition is excellent, with some normal scratches on the bottom. This is a dramatic piece which would look equally great on a glass shelf, coffee table or a sideboard. While it is basically an art sculpture, it can still function as a bowl.

This art glass vase in the shape of a large martini glass is 7" high, 4-3/4" in diameter across the top. It is signed on the bottom Kosta Boda Artist Coll B. Vallien 99695 and has a clear Kosta Boda paper label on the base. The designation Artist Collection indicates that this is a limited edition. Bertil Vallien is one of the most prominent Swedish art glass artists, and his work appears in many museums in the U.S. This unusual piece dates to about the 1970's, and the condition is excellent, no chips, cracks or other damage. This is primarily a decorative art glass sculpture, although it could conceivably be utilized by a very thirsty drinker.

This art glass bottle vase is 9" high, 5.5" wide at the base, 1 - 2" deep. The bottom is signed Kosta Boda Artist Coll B. Vallien 89252. The designation Artist Collection indicates that it is a special limited edition. Although a single blossom or branch could be inserted in the neck, this is purely decorative sculptural art work that was not necessarily intended to have a practical function. Bertil Vallien is one of the most prominent glass artists, and his work appears in many museum collections. The vase dates to about the 1970's, and the condition is excellent, no damage.

This striking plate or bowl in Flygsfors glass from Sweden is 13-1/4" in diameter, about 1-3/4" high. It weighs about 7 lbs., so it's quite heavy. The pinwheel design is executed in cranberry pink and white cased in clear glass. It is marked on the bottom Flygsfors 56 for 1956. There are no cracks or chips, just some scratches, especially on the bottom and a few minor scratches on top, to be expected in vintage glass that is almost 60 years old. The design looks like it could have been done today. Flygsfors is included in Fifties Glass by Leslie Pina. This is classic, high quality mid century glass at an amazingly reasonable price.

I have never seen another version of this vintage '50's glass bowl in the form of an artist's palette, including a large opening for the finger. It measures 13" long, 10" wide, 2-1/4" high. The predominant color is cranberry or deep pink over white on the bottom, all cased in clear glass, with five spots of blue to represent the paint. The only mark on the bottom is Flygsfors without a date. Leslie Pina discusses Flygsfors glass in her book Fifties Glass and observes that many of the pieces were more sculpture than functional glass. This bowl could certainly be used for fruit, etc. but it makes a great display piece without the fruit.

This Flygsfors coquille sculpture or vase measures 20" high. A similar piece is pictured on page 130 in Fifties Glass by Leslie Pina and described as follows: "Organic shape with four stretched appendages, the milk glass center cased with [orange] and clear crystal, and one of the most fantastic sculptural forms of the ... series, in which function is no longer taken seriously." Indeed, this piece is more of a sculpture for display, rather than a true vase. The glass is green, white and clear. The bottom is engraved Flygsfors 63 on one side and Coquille on the other side. (The Coquille mark is not pictured.) The designer artist is Paul Kedelv. The condition is excellent, with some scratches on the bottom, consistent with age. There are no cracks or chips. This is an iconic piece of 60's Swedish art glass, ideal for the discerning collector.

This purple blown glass chandelier is approximately 12-1/2" high, not including the chain at the top or the ceiling cap, which is 5-1/4" in diameter. For the sake of safety a new socket has been inserted, and the wiring is new. When installed the glass top for the chandelier must be secured to the bottom with wires in the loops on both the top and bottom. When a bulb is placed inside the glass, the purple color of the glass becomes lighter and casts a soft light. The glass appears to be blown into a mold, probably Bohemian glass. The decorative wiring applied to the glass emphasizes the subtle quilting pattern in the glass. The condition is excellent, it dates to about the 1920-'30's. This chandelier would make a beautiful accent piece in a foyer, bathroom, etc.

This is a glass vase by Bertil Vallien, 10-1/2" high, marked on the bottom Kosta Boda/Artist Coll/B Vallien/48439. The vase is slightly iridescent. The Artist Collection is a special limited edition line apart from the normal production line. Vallien, who is still alive, joined Kosta Boda around 1970's. He is now considered one of the top glass artists, and his work is in U.S. museums. This piece dates to around the 1970's, and the condition is excellent.

This is a set of six Bohemian wine glasses on stems. They are 6-1/2" high, 2-7/8" in diameter across the top. The stem is hexagonal, tapered from top to narrower at bottom. The stem and the foot are clear. The bowl at top is slightly nipped in and flared out at the top and is a beautiful medium green cut to clear to emphasize the grapes, leaves and tendrils. There are no marks on the glasses, but the quality is very fine, and the glass rings at a high pitch. Each glass weighs 8.7 ounces, a substantial but not overly heavy weight. There is a total of 7 glasses, essentially a set of 6 with an extra glass. They are Bohemian, date to about 1900, and the condition is excellent. There are almost no scratches on the bottoms, which indicates that the glasses were used very little.

This elegant glass pitcher is 9-3/4" high. There are stars etched into the glass all the way around the slender body. There is a small spout at the top, excellent for pouring juice or cocktails. There is a sterling silver foot which is marked R. Wallace Sterling W401. The silver and the glass are in excellent estate condition. The pitcher dates to about the 1950's.

This vase is 8" high, unusually high for a fish graal vase. There are several fish and a seashell creature depicted in black and green, swimming around through black and green seaweed. The curved glass plays with the light and makes it appear that you are looking at fish in an aquarium or underwater. (Please note that the two dark vertical lines are just an illusion, a result of a reflection in the photo, which I was unable to eliminate.) The bottom is marked Orrefors, Graal H 635 R, Edward Hald. The number dates the piece to 1961. the condition is excellent, virtually no scratches.

This antique 19th Century glass compote is 8-3/4" high, and the top is 9-1/2" in diameter. There are 18 cut panels surrounding the bowl at the top, which is scalloped. The waisted stem has six cut panels. The foot is 5-5/8" in diameter and has rays like the sun. The glass rings when tapped lightly. The condition is excellent, no chips or cracks. There are scratches on the bottom of the foot and a horizontal scratch about 1-1/2" long spanning in two of the panels, consistent with age. I have been advised by a glass expert that the piece is probably made in Brooklyn, NY by the Brooklyn Flint Glass Works. There is a slight possibility, based on the cut stem, that the piece could be from Sweeney of Wheeling.
