This etching by Piranesi is 15-1/2" by 10", 23" by 17-1/4" overall. The image is an elaborate commode decorated with horses, birds, putti, classical heads and fleurs de lys, topped by two urns with classical figures flanking a large clock with three full length figures. The background is fanciful and delicate wallpaper that contains scrolls, birds and flying mythological creatures. The etching is signed in the plate Cavalier Piranesi at the lower right. It appears to come from a book and is numbered 55 at the lower right. The etching is beautifully framed with an apparently hand carved frame and an eglomise black "mat" with a silver line next to the etching. Piranesi lived from 1720-1778. While this is certainly an original etching, evidenced by the plate impression on the paper, it is possible that this may be a posthumous print from the 19th century. The condition in the frame appears to be excellent, no foxing, tears or other apparent damage.

This landscape in oil measures 10" by 15-1/4" including the frame. The painting seems to be on a stiff material which is not canvas, wood or board. The painting itself is quite charming, with a large mountain in the center and an adobe type dwelling on the lower left. There is a small rainbow at the upper left. I do not see a signature on the front, but there is a label on the back that says Van Schaik. I have been unable to identify the artist. The painting dates to about the 1950's, and the condition is good. The painting is a little darker than it appears in the photos, because of the reflection from the flash. It could probably use a cleaning and there is a small flake in the paint at the center right near the frame.

The image size of this original woodcut is 9.84" high by 8.97" wide. There is no signature, but the image is well known, and there is also a valuable special edition. I believe that this print is hand colored by the artist, since the colors match the special edition. The artist William Nicholson is listed. The print is Guardsman from The Horse Guards and dates to 1898. The print is taped to the deep red mat which enhances the dark image which is probably meant to depict a cloudy day in London. It is currently framed in a simple black wood frame which is 5/15" wide. There are no tears or rips in the print.
