This sterling bud vase by Mauser is fairly rare. It is 6=1/4" high and is marked sterling on the bottom with the Mauser logo of the unicorn facing left, plus the number 11117 (a very lucky number). The scalloped opening at the top flares out above the repousse design of a winged cherub or cupid with his arms raised in joy. The design appears on both sides of the vase, which is classic Art Nouveau. It weighs 1.4 ozt or 28.2 dwt. The condition is excellent for the age of over 100 years, with just a couple of tiny dings on the side. The Mauser company was founded in 1887 in Massachusetts and moved to New York in 1890. In 1903 the company merged with another to form the Mt. Vernon Company Silversmiths, which was purchased by Gorham in 1913. Therefore, this vase most likely dates to around 1903 or earlier.

The image of this old etching is 7=1/4" high by 10-1/8" wide. It is signed "Alt-Nuerenberg" A. Labaschin. It depicts a charming scene of an old chalet type building, a tower and an old covered bridge over a river with tall thin trees in the foreground. The print is in good condition, no tears, in a slightly yellowed mat. The frame is a simple black wood 1/2" wide with a gold stripe around the mat. The overall size of the frame is about 14-1/2" high by 17" wide. The print appears to date to approximately 1920-50.

The image size of this original woodcut is 9.84" high by 8.97" wide. There is no signature, but the image is well known, and there is also a valuable special edition. I believe that this print is hand colored by the artist, since the colors match the special edition. The artist William Nicholson is listed. The print is Guardsman from The Horse Guards and dates to 1898. The print is taped to the deep red mat which enhances the dark image which is probably meant to depict a cloudy day in London. It is currently framed in a simple black wood frame which is 5/15" wide. There are no tears or rips in the print.

This ring in 14K yellow gold is a size 10 and could be sized up or down a bit. It has an impressed mark of 14K on the inside of the shank. The design is simple and elegant with a flat, polished piece of fine quality lapis lazuli measuring 7/8" wide by 1/2" high set in the center. The color of the stone is deep blue speckled with gold flecks, possibly pyrite. There are no veins of white, which makes the stone more valuable. The condition is excellent. It is difficult to date the ring precisely, but it probably comes from about the 1960's.
