| This brush is 9" long, 3" wide. It is marked twice on the side with the interlocking UB logo for Unger Brothers, 925 Fine, Pat Feb 10 1903. The design appears in high relief with a fantasy of swirls and waves surrounding a winged cupid kissing a sleeping figure. There are more waves and swirls down the handle terminating with a woman's face wrapped in swirls of hair, crowned with a shell on both the top and bottom of the handle. The design is quintessential Art Nouveau. Except for very narrow edges, there is no undecorated space. As far as I know, these are the original bristles, which have been soaked and washed. The condition is very good, with just a slight depression in the silver at the top just above the cupid. | ||
