| This extraordinary Native American sterling bangle bracelet is 2.5" wide all the way around. The inside measurement is 2.5" wide by 2.25" and the opening at the back is 1.25". It weighs 3.6 ounces or 65.9 dwt. There is pierced open work in the silver, clearly hand cut. The elaborate design consists of a center circle inlaid with a bird in black and white stones and a tiny red dot at the neck, plus two kinds of cactus in green, one with coral flowers, all surrounded by a Greek key border. On the sides of the center circle are two circles inlaid with four pieces of mother of pearl in slight relief, further decorated with four circles of dots. The borders of the cuff repeat the Greek key and dot circle decoration. There are no maker's marks, but I guarantee that the piece is sterling. The cuff comes from a collection that ceased in the 1970's. The condition is excellent, except for one tiny chip in the mother of pearl inlay on the bird at the lower right where it meets the black inlay. It is hardly noticeable. I have not polished the bracelet. | ||
