Nicely detailed luftwaffe banner painte on a light masonite type material. I have seen these before (Examples of various flags/standards) but not sure exactly what they were used for. One explanation I have heard is that they were used as seat markers at higher level meetings between service branches. In this case it would tell the representative from the Luftwaffe intelligence service where at the table he would be seated. The material is light so they are almost always a bit damaged. This one has chipping to the corners with one small loose piece. Someone, presumably the vet that brought it back, glued the matching flag tinnie to the front as well. Still a very displayable, original and good looking item. About 24x25cm.
