Blue Max / Pour Le Merite Stickpin - WWII German
Very nice enameled stickpin representing the famous Pour Le Merite medal. The Pour Le Merite was, despite its French name, Germany's highest award for military valor during WWI. Although replaced during WWII with the Knights Cross, many winners of the Blue Max from WWI were still authorized to wear this award during WWII. There are many photographs of Erwin Rommel showing him wearing his Knights Cross with his Blue Max clunking away behind it. This stickpin is an attractive example with blue enamel. Marked on the back PFORZHEIM PREISSLER".
