Really, really nice transitional helmet. I am calling it a double decal as it was issued as such. Most likely the national tri-color shield was removed when regulations dicated this to be done. It was a smooth even job done without damaging the helmet but traces of this decal do remain quite clearly (See photos). The Wehrmacht eagle decal to the left is in great shape. The finish is very strong throughout but as most 70+ year old hlmets are, there is some wear to the finish. The largest area of scarring is on the rear and can be seen in photograph #5 (Closeup and exaggerated by flash). The chinstrap is complete but does have a weak spot, also shown in photos. It has pleanty of life in it but this is a point worth mentioning. The liner is in great shape matching the overall condition of the shell. Very gentle age wear. Liner size is ink stamped on rear skirt 58/59. Size is marked on right skirt 64. Really a lovely helmet that I am proud to have for a while.
