Interesting medallion from the aircraft designing and manufacturing company founded by Tony Fokker. Fokker is most famous for his WWI aircraft used by Germany in WWI which were revolutionary in design. As is often the case with technological development, WWI greatly accelerated advancement of aircraft design and Fokker's planes were always in the forefront of this evolution. When WWI finally ended Fokker moved his company to his native Holland . This medallion commemorates 30 years of this company (N.V. Nederlandsche Vliegtuigenfabriek) in Holland, stretching from 1919-1949. The front of the medallion shows two aircraft; a more modern and an older example representing the evolution over time. Around this is the company name and a likeness of Fokker's signature. The back reads "aangeboden ter gelegenheid van het 30 jarig bestaan de Fokker fabrieken" or "Presented on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Fokker factories". Very neat item for those interested in aircraft and aviation. Measures 6cm in diameter.
