This is a cool medal and actually a very difficult one to find. This one is out of my collection and in choice condition. Proper suspension ring with laterally pierced ball and triangular loop. Obverse shows a Roman gladius on oak leaves and laurel branches with 4 pointed radiant stars to either side, all under the date of the Spanish Civil War 17-VII-1936. The reverse shows the Spanish coat of arms at the top and falangist yoke and arrows below. This was instituted on June 6 1940 and was given for acts of bravery by members of the Italian Legion in the Spanish Civil War. The 1940 date likely indicates that although it was for service in Spain four years prior it was meant to help build military fervor for what looked to be a quickly approaching war. Just a really neat medal.
