This is a second Waffen SS 1944 Der Soldatenfreund. These are hard to find and this actually came from the same place as the other I have listed. These were pocket handbooks and are always well worn when found as they were cheaply made and likely spent time in the bottom of rucksacks on the Eastern front. Pages are delicate as again, they were not made with the best of materials. The back page is loose as is the other example I have listed. The front part is a personal journal. This fellow was not much of a writer so there are mostly empty days but there are a good few entries here and there. His handwriting was lacking and I haven't been able to make much out of it. The central part is a sort of Waffen SS soldier guide with rules and regulations. The third section consists of color plates of various branch and rank insignia, flags etc. The last page contains a world map to track current and future conquests. Nice original, hard to find piece of Waffen SS personal equipment.
