Napoleonic French Four Place Bullet Mold Brass - Iron
Here is a truly fascinating piece with a great look to it. Four place round ball bullet mold. The mold portion is brass. The smallest ball mold diameter is about 7mm and the largest is about 13mm. The swiveling arms are iron and the handles are wood. The brass portion has written on the side FAI PAR COUPIL A BONNETABLE. The design is simple but when the handles are swiveled out and squeezed it is clear that plenty of pressure can be brought to bear. The arms do have a little jiggle to them but the mold section does close up nicely so would probably work as well as the day it was made. The wood grips have a pressure split on one side and a hairline crack on the other but are not at all loose and there looks to be no danger of this worsening. I guess this is just what happens when wood is used for such a thing. This mold is just a lovely looking item that fairly screams Napoleonic era.
