Opferrinf Elsess literally means "Sacrificial Ring Alsace". These were worn by Germans living in Alsace Lorraine with NSDAP allegiance. A favorite tactic of the Nazis was to stir discontent among (And hopefully sympathy for) ethnic Germans in areas they were looking for a reason to enter. This is a scarce pin in the first place but most were found unfinished in the manufacturer's factory. It is very hard to find an example with paint applied (Finished). The paint on this example is near complete with just a bit of rubbing to the raised silver washed areas. Maker marked R. HAUSCHILD PFORZHEIM. Nice scarce example for someone looking for a variety of party type pins.
