Very respectable early transitional DLV - Luftwaffe dagger. These early DLV examples have the staples on the reverse of the scabbard fittings and are not easily found these days. This example is by SMF (And it is always hard to resist pondering what "SMF" may be an anachronism for). Blade is excellent and far better looking then my heavy flash photography conveys. The fittings throughout all have nice, dark patina giving that great uncleaned look. The crossguard is engraved F.A.S. which represents Flak Artillery School. The end of the crossguard shows a waffenamt. The wire on the handle is complete but in places looks almost age-melted into the soft leather. The scabbard leather is most certainly all original and displays age accordingly as per attached images. There is one spot where a bulge indicates the interior scabbard tube probably has a bulge. This could probably simply be pushed in but it is harming nothing and I don't make such "adjustments". Nice, rare dagger in untouched condition with a fair price.
