This is a nice engraved Eickhorn dress bayonet with a couple of minor issues but some real pluses as well. The first and most important point is that it is real. The engraving is of superb quality with crisp, sharp looking eagles with no lumpy features. The wording in the engraving reads "für erinnerung an mein dienstzeit" or "In remembrance of my service time". At the bottom is a great looking army eagle and at the top is an even better Luftwaffe eagle. The side opposite to the engraving shows a very nice ORIGINAL EICKHORN logo. There is some surface rubbing typical with uncleaned daggers. I do not clean or fix anything but if/when someone does clean this one it will be a real screamer. Both sides of the blade have a groove and a step down tip. The silver knot is a bit tired and worn but it is there. Handle has a nice pair of stag grips with rivets that have remained unplayed with. The two negatives with this bayonet: 1) There is a wobble between the blade and the handle. The washer does look original so some mildly handy fellow could slide a shim under the washer and along the tang and this should fix right up. 2) There is some bubbling and wear to the plated finish on both the crossguard and the pommel/bayonet slot. Looks to be the original green felt in the slot. Moving on to the scabbard there is nothing but nice things to say. The scabbard finish is near perfect and buttery smooth. Couldn't imagine it better. Further, it is really nice to see the brown Luftwaffe frog to match up with the Luftwaffe eagle on the blade engraving. Further, the frog is in excellent condition; Soft, pliable and with a pleasing tiger stripe effect.
