Very interesting engraving on this Imperial German artillery sword. Gorgeous blade is clean as a whistle and bright as a mirror with nicely executed and detailed engraving. One side shows the limbered artillery and stands of arms motif we see on some engraved artillery swords. The other side shows a mounted soldier, horse head and floral motif engraved along with the dedication Fritz Neuf Weihnachten 1910 (With Weinachten translating to Christmas). Red felt and white leather washers are in place and complete. Fishskin grip is in perfect shape and undamaged triple twisted wire wrap. Unit markings on the hilt 4.69.41. Scabbard shows original paint in excellent shape with only the odd run spot and no rusting. Scabbard ring is fixed which is correct for this time period and screws are unturned. Blade is just short of 33 inches and the sword in the scabbard is a bit over 39 inches. Very nice sword with a good splash of personality.
