| Very handsome engraved lion head artillery saber. Finely constructed handle shows no damage. Langets show crossed cannons on one side and an unfurled scroll on the other for monogram. Nice, thick grip shows no damage to the fish skin or wire which is nice and tight. Beautiful knuckle bow has the added extra touch of pierced open work; Very tasteful. Handsome lion head has both ruby eyes. Unsharapened blade rates excellent and shows motif of battlefield equipment including swords, trumpets, flags, drums, cannon and polearms as well as elaborate floral designs. There is the odd scratch and a couple of very small areas of very minor ocidation that are even too small to photograph effectively. Original knot is in excellent condition with just the smallest bit of damage to the wire in two places. This wire has a tendency to snag and it is very rare to find one in place on a sword with this little damage. Anodized scabbard has one small dent 7 inches from drag (see photo) which is not at all disfiguring. Finish on the scabbard is near perfect with unturned screws st the throat.
