Antique English Poured Wax Pierotti Doll with all original clothing.
Here for your buying pleasure is a wonderful all original English poured wax Pierotti doll. She is 18-1/2 inches tall and her gown flows to 26-inches in length!
She has lovely threaded ice blue glass eyes, brown eyebrows, a sweet pert mouth and molded ears. She has precious pudgy modeling to her features that poured wax Pierotti dolls are known for - having plump little rolls to the back of her neck and chubby cheeks with full lips! These wax dolls were made inserting each individual strand of hair into their wax head with a needle. I have supplied a picture for you to see the holes in the head for the hair to be inserted in to. One can see where they started at the top of the head where you can see the swirl to the hair. She retains most of her blonde mohair inserts. She retains her original brass grommets in her shoulder plate with the original string attachments to her white heavy cloth body. Her body is original and is still nice very nice being clean and white. Her arms and legs are perfect having no breaks, repairs, or defects. Just a slight discoloration to the one arm from being exposed to light at this side of her body.
Her long christening gown is original to her and has a matching bonnet. She has a long 26-inch long slip that has the same trim as the gown, and a beautiful long wool petticoat that has satin stitched scalloping all around the edges Each clothing piece closes with string ties to the back and the waist. Her gown is beautiful! It displays the most unusual tiny bobbin thread stitching for trim that I have ever seen! It is attached to the top of a white cotton batiste background. Long strips of the smallest eyelet trim runs between the hand tatted decoration! Her entire clothing presentation is quite extraordinary! Her gown, underclothing and matching bonnet are clean and in wonderful original condition, having no holes, discoloration, or deterioration.
This lovely poured wax Pierotti doll has no breaks, repairs, or defects. She does have some lighter discoloration at her one, which I wanted to mention. It looks as though her previous custodian had her turned towards the light at that side. Some Pierotti's are known for their deep pink coloring (although many have whitened through the years in coloring) and this one retains much of that pink coloring but there is a variance to her one side of her arm and cheek. I have known some collectors who expose the entire doll to light when this happens to even out the tone of the coloration in the wax, but I have always left her as she is - away from bright light and indirect sun.
