Antique China Head Doll - so called Jenny Lind doll.
Here for your buying pleasure is a large 23-inch Jenny Lind hand pressed china head doll with a lovely countenance and presence! Circa 1850-60's.
She is a desirable example, having beautifully painted blue eyes with black eyeliner, a red upper eye crease line and black eyebrows. She has the softest of blushed cheeks, dotted nostrils, and a perfectly painted mouth. Her hair shows some wear spots, but all in all not too bad for a china of this age. Her shoulder plate has two areas of re-glue to the back area, by the sew holes, at the corners of the shoulder plate. I have photographed this area for you to view.
She is on an antique body with brown leather vintage arms. She has had some cloth reinforcement to the knee area of her legs. Her body is very heavy, firmly stuffed and in good sturdy condition. Her one vintage sawdust stuffed arm has sustained a small re-glue to that area to keep her sawdust from leaking.
She wears an antique heavy cotton striped dress in an off the shoulder style. It is entirely hand sewn. It is in colors of off white, black and midnight blue. A black velvet trim is decorating the bottom of the skirt area with a black velvet sash tied into a large bow to back of the dress - it is a flattery addition. She also wears antique pantaloons, an antique chemisette, vintage socks and antique caramel colored boots.
