Antique 19th. Century Day Bed for your Fashion Poupee's. Circa, mid to late 1800's.
Here for your buying pleasure is a gorgeous 19th. Century dolls day bed! Made from beautiful burled walnut with rich golden inlaid accents. A lovely oval inlaid monogram decorates the center of the run board with the initials of, M.B. This piece is constructed in a classic and bold design for the period.
The covering of the Day Bed is done in a rich black textile with decorative golden brocade fleur de lis motifs! Each bolster also bears the lovely golden fleur de lis accents. A stunning combination! And it couldn't be more fitting for your lovely fashion ladies!
These beds were not only used in Madame's boudoir, but were also utilized in the center of the parlor, or in front of a fireplace.
This piece measures 17-inches in length in the middle of the Day Bed, in-between the two side bolsters. So this Day Bed would accommodate a 17" reclining fashion lady very comfortably. The entire piece measures 22-inches in length, 11-inches in width and is 10-3/4 inches in height, measuring to the top of the bed sides. The bed has wood slates to the bottom of the piece to hold the mattress.
This superb piece of early doll furniture is in wonderful condition! The only area I can see to mention is, to the back of the bed, there are some holes that run up and down the board which is most likely where a wood pole once was that accommodated a decorative drapery to the back.
