For your buying pleasure I am offering this precious French Raynal cloth doll with her original clothing. Circa 1931.
The history of the Raynal dolls is quite fascinating. The French factory was built in 1922 by Edouard Raynal of Paris, France. He applied for his first cloth/felt doll patent in 1930. They were competitors of the Italian Lenci doll manufacturer's , specializing in felt dolls. Many Raynal dolls, even today, are mistaken for Lenci's.
This particular Raynal doll is a great little example of their talented product skills! She has a felt face with beautiful facial painting. Her original reddish/brown curly mohair wig, in its original set. Her original felt dress and cotton onesie. She stands 14-inches in height - a great little cabinet size!
She has large, and very soulful looking, deep brown painted eyes to her felt face, with thick eyelashes and brown eye shadow. One stroke brown eyebrows, painted cheeks, nostrils, and a pert little heart shaped mouth with the two small lighter colored dots to the lower lip...generally found on the Raynal dolls.
She has a stuff cloth body that does have discolored spotting here and there, which can be seen in the photos. Stitched little fingers and a separated little thumb. Her foot is stamped, "Jan. 27, 2931.
Her little felt dress is entirely made of felt and is sewn to the collar portion of the doll, so it cannot be removed. It still retains nice bright coloring, although does have some surface dust, which is very typical for the cloth and felt dolls.
She is a wonderful and very sweet small Raynal example!
