Here for your buying pleasure is a darling early doll cradle, feather painted in colors of crimson and black. Circa 1860's to 70's.
The cradle is small, measuring just 15-inches in length for your early rag doll, china, or papier mache! It is thin in its body to accommodate more of a long slender cloth body on a doll than a composition type doll bodied doll. It retains most of its original paint, however, the hood of the cradle has had touch ups which are quite nicely done. (see photo) The inside is in a cream colored paint with gold at the peak of the hood. Up to the hood measures at the highest peak about 10-inches. The rockers are well attached to protect your doll from spills.
It has some of its old original nails intact, but there are some replacements on the piece also. I find this early doll to be in quite nice condition for its age. There is a piece of wood missing from the end of the cradle that I have photographed. It looks as though it has been gone for a very long time.
