| Nice scrimshaw whale bone busk or corset stay is carved with three designs separated with architectural arrangements. On top is a schooner on the ocean, next is a pirate/sailor, on bottom is a lady with her tiny foot coming out from her skirt.The form has a heart or bosom shpe on the top. I bought it about 30 years ago and it was supposed to have been in the Admiral Perry estate auction. It is in very good condition, 14 inches Beautiful work. Late 18th century early 19th century. | ||
