| Unusual Scrimshaw carved figure of Capt Ahab with peg leg and harpoon. Right arm made separately and pegged in ( small piece of tape holds it in place. Some slight residue of glue on foot. I think it is carved out of a sperm whale tooth, but it may be elephant ivory. Just over 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Nice addition to any scrimshaw collection. (came from an estate with several traditionally carved teeth) Hard to date, Guessing at age ca 1940 | ||
