The colors are deep and bright on this two-handled tray or dish made in France at the Henriot Quimper pottery circa 1900. The petit Breton is playing the flute for his lady who is spinning wool or cotton into thread. They are standing between towers of flowers under a blue sky; the border decoration is larger and more exuberant than the other similar piece (item 1333918) I have in my store. This piece is in perfect condition, as bright and fresh as it was the day it was made. Measurements are twelve inches including the twisted handles by 8-1/4 inches.

The hexagonal cup is hand-painted with four panels of floral sprays (touche decor), and two panels with a man holding his pipe and a woman holding a nosegay. The cup handle is shaped like a wishbone and the floral decorated saucer is notched between the six sides. Both pieces have the painted HR Quimper mark indicating they were made between 1895 and 1922. Both pieces are made from thick pinkish clay and are in excellent condition with no damage. The cup measures 2-3/4 inches in height; the saucer measures 5-1/4 inches in diameter.

This is an early sabot (shoe) made at the Grande Maison pottery in France between 1860 and 1883. It is hand-painted with a Petite Bretonne holding a flower and other flower sprays including one on the back of the shoe. There are minor nicks in the glazes on the upper rim and toe, very typical for this soft pottery. A wonderful survivor, measuring 6 inches long, 3 inches high and 2-1/4 inches wide.

Really wonderful pair of ceramic shoes (sabots) made in France by Longwy circa 1910. They are decorated in a typical motif of flowering branches on a turquoise ground with mauve interiors, and have pointed toes and recessed heels. There is a hole in each shoe so they can be joined with a ribbon or thong, then displayed as a hanging ornament, but they are substantial enough to stand as shelf or mantel ornaments. Measurements are 6 inches in length, 2 inches in width and 2-3/4 inches in height. Both are in mint condition.

A French porcelain oyster plate thickly molded in an embossed form then decorated with violet flowers and rusty leaves highlighted with gilding. The plate, made circa 1900, is in excellent condition with no damage but some of the thin gilding has rubbed off the rim. It measures 8-3/4 inches in diameter.
