A bright array of simple blue and white flower baskets with different flowers in each one, with a matching false sham with four baskets. The two pieces are hand-sewn of cottons, mostly solid colors with two flowers in calico prints from the 1940s. Some have embroidered stamens in mustard yellow thread. The quilt measures 80 by 70 inches and the accompanying piece measures 34 by 74 inches.

I found this patchwork quilt top and had it finished with muslin backing and binding. The measurements are 96 inches in length and 80 inches in width. The colors are strong and the effect is stunning- there are four complete stars and two half stars. There are a few spots from use, no tears or worn fabric, and all hand-sewn.

An expertly hand-stitched appliqued quilt in a Rose of Sharon variation, possibly a kit quilt, dating circa 1930. The quilt is in excellent condition with no weaknesses in the fabric. The lightly stuffed motif is repeated eight times in the main panel and repeated four times in stitching only down the center. The flower pots in the bottom corners are a charming feature. Measurements are 92 inches in length by 76 inches in width. The quilt has been washed and earlier spots removed.

The Pennsylvania maker of this mid-20thc quilt had an interesting collection of ombre fabrics to use, but pieces that were not quite big enough to fit the template. Several of the 12-patch blocks have added on strips and the placement of the blocks is random rather than artistic. Nonetheless the unusual fabrics and mix of colors have an impact. The binding and piecing were done by machine and the quilting is hand-sewn. The all cotton lightweight quilt measures 80 by 74 inches and is in excellent condition with light fold lines.

This quilt has wonderful movement in the pattern known as Whirling Hexagons, and an array of 1930s cotton dress fabrics. It is all hand-stitched, hand washed, and in excellent condition - the colors are bright with no fading. Measurements are 90 inches in length and 78 inches in width. This little known quilt pattern was published in Texas in the 1930s.
