A colorful art pottery vase made in England at the Rolle Quay facility established by William Baron in 1895. The design reflects the popularity of mountaineering in the Alps at the end of the 19th century. The vase is made of the local red clay, hand thrown and hand painted, with a glaze drip that can be seen in the photo (before firing glazes do not have the same intense color as they do after firing, so the drip was missed at the time by Baron). Measures 3-1/2 inches in height, with no damage. The vase is signed on the bottom "Baron/Barnstaple/394": the number might be sequential for all the pieces Baron had produced.
