Culture: Islamic. Date: 9th - 10th Century A.D. Material: Glass. Condition: Intact, super, with beautiful iridescence and weathering. Provenance: American private collection. Measurements: 1.75 inches high (4.5 cms), 3.9 inches in diameter (10 cms). Of translucent yellow-brown color, with a cylindrical concave base, rim folded in, then back out, then underneath. Featuring a mummy mask of a woman, with most of the original polychromy preserved. An exceptional mask with fine details and much rarer than the Ptolemaic and Roman period types.
