| Culture: Canaanite/ Phoenician. Date: 1300 - 900 B.C. Origin: Eastern Mediterranean. Condition: Intact, with sea deposits. Provenance: EX: Early Private prominent collection. Measurements: 17.5 inches long (44.5 cms). This large type was used to transport liquids like olive oil, or wine. This 'torpedo' shaped amphora type (Gjerstad's Plain White V-VI Ware) has been found at a number of Eastern Mediterranean sites from the late Bronze Age. They were among the cargo of the Uluburun wreck, ca. 1300 BC, found off the coast of Southern Turkey.
