| Culture: Roman. Date 1st Century A.D. Material: Yellow-green glass. Condition: Repaired. Provenance: Ex: American private collection; Ex: New York art market. Measurements: 3.9 inches high (9.7 cms). Pale green in color, free blown in the form of a filled pig skin, the waisted body seated with its "tied" fore- and hind-legs each extending to a point, the long conical neck with everted rim, on a flat base. An extremely rare type. Cf: lot 214, Christie's New York Antiquities Auction, 8 June 2001 (realized $8,460); no. 66, Alfred Wolkenberg Collection.
