Beautiful old Japanese ceramic sake tokuri rice wine decanter. This item is from the Shigaraki area of Japan, a region renowned for its many artists and kilns producing fine earthenware, known as yaki. This vase features a long slender neck, glazed in the turquoise melon drip style. The lower bowl of the jug is glazed in off-white, accented by a hand painted lotus blossom. The tokuri dates to the mid Meiji-Period (c.1890), and is in excellent condition. It measures roughly 7 inches in diameter at the wide point of the jug, 2 1/2 inches at the rim, and stands 13 inches tall.
