Japanese Antique Half Isho Dansu Meiji-Period Tansu
Japanese antique isho dansu clothing chest, dating to the Meiji-Period (c.1900). This single section tansu is the surviving half of a two piece clothing chest, likely given as a bridal gift. It is crafted from lightweight sugi (Japanese Cedar), and features a deep burgundy lacquer. The chest is in very good condition, with a well worn patina. The cast iron handles and lockplates are in good condition as well, accented by over sized hobnails. The tansu measures 33 1/4 inches wide, 19 inches tall and 16 inches deep. Excellent for use as a nightstand or low end table.
