Age: Mid Meiji-Period (c.1900)

Antique Japanese lacquered two piece isho dansu, or clothing chest. This chest is crafted almost entirely from kiri, or paulownia wood, prized by Japanese craftsmen for being strong, lightweight, and resistant to damage from the elements. It is finished with the original deep red finish, brought to life with a thorough wax and buffing. The chest is in very good condition, and may be used as a single stacked unit, or as individual sections. The cast iron locks and drawer pulls are heavy, and in excellent condition.
