A rare ancient Greek Laconian Black glazed pottery Column Krater, dating to the 4th Century B.C. This magnificent Column Krater is of typical form, with short flared foot, acorn shaped body and wide mouth, with broad collar rim. Two thick strap handles divide outwards to form stirrup-like loops, which attach to the shoulder of the Krater. The Krater is a ceremonial piece, likely used for funerary purposes. As such it is fair to assume that the hole in the base is an ancient design feature ...click for details
