They were hand applied to embroidered sheer chiffon over a light blue crepe background in a glass-covered shadow box. White elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) was first identified by Lamarck in 1816. It is one of the most important reef-building corals in the Caribbean. It exists in the Caribbean as well as the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. It is a habitat for reef species such as lobsters, parrot fish and snapper shrimp. The ivory bush coral has colonies that are arborescent with highly irregular bushy branches. Its natural habitat is from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. There is also a large reef of the Oculina varicosa off the coast of Fort Pierce, Florida. The piece is great for aquarium decor or simple displaying jewelry elegantly.
