Persian Kashi-Kari Bright Green Tile
This Persian Kashi-Kari (Tile Work) is bright green with polychromed enamel in high detail. There is a symmetrical floral arabesque pattern around a circular calligraphic inscription. The two additional colors used are ivory and bright orange. The bright orange color was first used on Persian tiles during the Qajar Dynasty (1795-1925). Centered within the floral arabesque is a graceful calligraphic inscription. The tile appears to be an enameled plaster cast on wood. It comes in its original paper sleeve. It was probably cast in the mid-19th Century. Size: ~ 9 5/8" H x 4 7/8" x 1/4"; Weight: ~ 175 grams
