BLC Dried Orchid Mounted in Shadow Box
Brassolaeliocattleya (BLC) is an intergeneric cattleya orchid. This intergeneric is made from the genera: Brassavola, Laelia and Cattelya.[133B] These three genera are the most important and primarily used for the development of hybrids. The first cattleya was discovered in 1818 in England in a shipment of mosses from South America and has become the most popular of orchids.[134C] By the 1950's orchid hybridizers crossed catteleyas with other genera (e.g. Laelia) to produce more compact, faster blooming intergenerics, generally called mini-cats, because of their reduced size.[134D] The Art and Orchid Gallery produced, dried and mounted these BLC orchids. They are displayed in a shadow box against bright green fabric as if growing in a small pot. A photograph of our growing BLC is attached to the frame. This one-of-a-kind floral art is ready for hanging or table display. References available upon request. Framed size: ~ 8 1/2" H x 10 1/2" x 1 1/4"; Weight: ~ 585 grams
