| The 'Orchid and Lace Series' from The Art and Orchid Gallery's one-of-a-kind Floral Art Collection. This phalaenopsis is a hybrid miniature with intense color when fresh or dried. Phalaenopsis are know as 'moth orchids' because the name is derived from the Greek and means: 'resembling a moth'.[134A] The Genus Phalaenopsis has only about 50 species but many varieties have been developed.[130B] The orchid genus can be grown indoors in a sunny window with similar conditions to African violets. Technically, they are monopodial epiphytic with thick strap-like leaves.[133C] The flowers are long lasting (1-3 months); the plants are relatively inexpensive and, therefore, very popular today. They have been hybridized for over 50 years.[134A] Our one-of-a-kind floral art is a phalaenopsis grown in our facility, air dried, and arranged on beaded, sequined lace in a shadow box, ready for hanging or table display. The color will last for years. A photograph of live flowers on the plant and a signed label of our Gallery are on the back. References available upon request. Size: ~ 7 1/2" H x 5 1/2" x 1 1/4"; Weight: ~ 1 pound | ||
