I love this piece! Moche culture, north-coastal Peru, Ca 300 to 500 AD. Large and very expressive storage jar decorated with the most fabulous portrait of Ai Apec I believe we have ever seen! Ai Apec is the Moche god of the underworld and takes many forms. In this example he has taken the form of a crab, but the face almost takes on that of an abstract sun.
