From the ancient Near East, Ca. 9th Century BC. This beautiful hairpin has an openwork pattern with square outside border design bordering the inner openwork chevrons. This is a very rare and fragile type. The top of the openwork panel originally terminated in open circles, three of which have broken off. Olive green patination. 6-1/8"L (15.5 cm).
