Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Ca 2000 BC. Carved stone palette, most likely used in grinding hallucinogenic drugs in shamanic rites, in the form of a sea lion. A fine and extremely rare example! Custom museum-quality mount. Palette itself measures 10"L x 3"H, on mount measures 6-1/2"H. Intact/excellent collection. Surface covered with nice root marking and deep patina.
