China, Han Dynasty, ca. 200 BC to 200 AD. Glazed pottery tripod vessel and cover (DING); the compressed globular body, with two upright angular loop handles with impressed geometric decoration, supported on three slightly cabriole legs, the domed cover decorated with a single incised band encircling the low ring knob, the cover, handles and upper section of the vessel covered with a thin mustard-yellow glaze. 8-1/2"W. Intact/excellent, save minor surface wear.
