An Indian Marble Triple-Headed Shiva
Northwestern India, Hindu Shahi period, ca. 7th century AD. Carved marble fragment features three heads - one facing forward, one facing right, once facing left - all with full facial detail; forward facing head has diamond-shaped pendant incised into forehead. Heads are adorned with large, tight curls, falling behind heads. On top of hair are hats in form crowns with large flower buds. Professionally mounted on museum quality stand. Marble piece itself measures 5-1/2"H x 7"W. Part of a larger piece, but heads are intact/excellent, save surface wear and rigid back, as shown. Provenance: Ex-Prominent New York City, NY Gallery.
